SCCS & SCCAN: How to Speak to your MSP about Climate
Join Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and SCCAN for an online session to learn how to speak to your MSP about climate change and climate action, nurturing effective communication and relationships with your local representatives.
This is an open event for SCCAN and SCCS members and others who, like us, are committed to taking effective and meaningful climate action to protect ourselves, our homes, our biosphere, and future generations from the most devastating effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
Talk About Climate Change...Without Saying 1.5C
We need a range of strategies to communicate with different people about climate change. Some people want the science, the statistics, the reports, while others might find the science confusing and alienating.
What language do you use to talk about climate change? Are you trying to engage new people with your climate action projects? Are you struggling to get people on board at work with a climate-friendly initiative?
In this one hour session we’ll explore some of the language that research shows to be most effective for communicating about climate change; we'll look at phrases and words that are more likely to be relevant to peoples lives. There’s no single or easy answer – so if you’ve found something that’s worked for you come and share it with us!
The session is fully interactive, with a short presentation, and a discussion of different approaches.
